With the start of a new year I'm enjoying thinking of all that 2014 has to hold for us Ambroses, but first I want to recap 2013. :o)
January - found somewhere to live. moved. threw a 3-year old a fairy birthday party. got sick. traveled in snow. etc....January has ALWAYS been a least-favorite month of the year for me. Amazing that I got through this one. :o)
February - decisions about getting married. Valentine's Day. Planning/executing a wedding. February (already a short month!) went by REALLY fast for me.
March - We got married. Pretty much the highlight of 2013 for me. :o) (and I still want to do a review of vendors. Maybe. Perhaps I'll do that around our one-year anniversary?)
April - We tried to get settled into our new life of being married and having a kid. I remember going through a lot of a emotions at that time even if I didn't blog about it. Needless to say this was an adjustment period.
May - I don't really remember the month of May. The only thing that I remember is planting tomatoes. Exciting life, I know.
June - We celebrated Father's Day, Allan's birthday and just tried to have much fun as possible.
July - Allan left for a month for Army stuffs. I tried to keep busy. Oh, and I left my job that I had had since graduating college.
August - Started a new job! Oh, and Allan came home. :o) That made me happy. OH! And we went to California and got new (to us!) furniture.
September - Moved. It was probably the craziest of moves I have ever done. Don't want a repeat any time soon...
October - We had a busy October. It kind of ran away from me.
November - Hosted Thanksgiving! cooked a turkey! Ate lots of good food!
December - December just rocked. It was a good way to end the year and we loved spending it with Lindy and the rest of Allan's family.
Here's to a great 2013 and an even better 2014! :o)

How we got a whole household full of furniture for next to nothing...
So, this post is a long time coming, I know. Life is busy around these parts! What with moving...(yup. Moving. A post will be coming shortly [i think] about that.) and playing and all sorts of other things, I just haven't had time.
ANYWAYS. Back in June, Allan's Aunt Beth texted him some pictures of some really nice furniture....and asked us if we wanted their entire dining room set (which included a table with leaf extenders, 6 chairs, a china cabinet and a buffet table). Then she asked if we wanted their couch and loveseat. THEN she asked if we wanted the bedroom set (including the bed + mattress, man dresser and woman dresser + vanity.) The only catch was that we would need to get down to the Palm Springs area of California and rent a moving truck and drive back all that furniture. We thought it out - and decided that we'd never get a deal like this again (plus we could sell all of our old furniture) and finally said yes!
After switching dates a couple of times, we drove off one Friday afternoon in a cute red Ford Focus we rented from the car rental. We got to Palm Springs just fine and the next morning got our rental truck and returned the car. Aunt Beth had not only all that furniture for us, but other odds and ends for us to take as well. Our 16' moving truck was very full! The great things is that Aunt Beth gave us some money to help make the trip and also hired movers to pack up the moving truck for us. We then drove home Sunday and with some fun adventures on the way (like getting pulled over for "not paying for our gas" [we did pay for it]) we got home and got everything unloaded.
We now have a very full house of furniture - since we knew we'd be moving so soon we didn't unpack a lot of the stuff - and the china cabinet is in two pieces in Lindy's bedroom. :o) BUT it makes me very excited to get all moved and organized in our new place. :o)
*I'll try to post more pictures when we move into our new place - maybe you'll even get a tour! (don't hold your breath waiting for that.....)

Disneyland Recap
Allan and I had THE BEST time in Disneyland/California Adventure. Seriously, it was wonderfully whimsical and that makes it happy in my book. :o)
Last time I went to Disneyland (which was also the first time EVER) earlier this year, the group I went with didn't care all too much for stopping and meeting all the many characters. Allan on the other hand, actively LOOKED for opportunities and we found them! We were able to do SO MUCH in 3-days, it was grand. :o)
Here are just a few pics of the fun times we had:
Needless to say it was a wonderful vacation and I keep wishing that we could just live in Disneyland because that sounds like an AMAZING adventure. :o) Until next time.... ciao!

Disneyland October 2012: the Preview
This is one of those adventures that has happened on a whim. :o)
It all started with me realizing I had a floating holiday that I needed to use before the end of the year. I'm not going to VA for Christmas this year and that's when I usually use my floating holiday. So in talking with my awesome boyfriend he suggested that I take it on a Thursday before one of my normal 3-day weekends. I thought this was a brilliant idea and we took a look at the calendar and decided that taking it next weekend would be perfect. Allan is currently unemployed, so we decided we would go somewhere fun. We talked about a lot of different ideas from going to St. George, to Denver, to Park City. We then turned our minds to go going to Disneyland. Well...we put a post up on a facebook to see if we could fill the car with others and we did! So....now we're going to Disneyland next weekend - during Halloween time! I'm so excited about this! I've heard Disneyland at Halloween time is the best thing ever, so I'm very much looking forward to going out of town with some friends and my awesome boyfriend. :o)
See ya when I get back! :-)

Cast of Characters
Well....here I am blog world. I've been blogging for years....anonymously. When I started blogging the blog world was full of people posting under pseudonyms and such. I was one of them. I have recently decided that it is time for me to be blogging in real life. Some of you might be coming from my former blog, and some of you might be new to my blogging adventures. :o) I hope you enjoy my writings and musings, just remember to take everything with a grain of salt. ;) That being said, here are few of the people in my life that will be making appearances throughout my blogging adventures.
Allan - You'll probably see the most of Allan. :o) Allan is my boyfriend/future fiance/future husband. Allan is in the Army Reserves and is a stud in uniform. (it's true what they say about a man in uniform. It makes a guy so much sexier. ;) ) We're not officially engaged yet, but we're hoping to get married sometime early next year. :o)
Lindy - Lindy is Allan's daughter. She's currently 2.5 years old and is the most adorable little girl that I have ever met. :o)
My parents - Mom and Dad. They are awesome. I love my parents. :o)
Siblings - BreeAnn (and her husband Tyler and newest baby Sammy), Caleb, and Daelynn. I'm the oldest of four children and I have two younger sisters and a younger brother. They are all wonderful people and I am so grateful that we are a family together. :o)
I am sure there are a lot of other people that will make an appearance - but we'll leave the introductions there for now. :o)
until next time! hugs!

on a whim...and otherwise
Hello there world! ( I feel just a little odd saying that, but oh well. it's there, and I'm not changing it.) I'm here....to tell you all of the wonderful adventures of my life. :o) Thus the title Adventures: On A Whim and Otherwise. I like to be spontaneous, and yet I'm a planner as well. :o) This leads to all sorts of fun adventures. :o)
I've been blogging for a long time...elsewhere (I'll talk about this later, I'm sure.) but I've felt that it is time to bring my real life and blogging worlds together. :o)
Anyways, first posts are always weird and awkward (at least, I think so) but I hope that this can turn in to something wonderful. Stay tuned for many more wonderful adventures....on a whim and otherwise. ;)
