a new year, a new us....

At the beginning of the year Allan and I sat down and decided on some "goals" of where we wanted to be a year from now.

This is kinda hard to write down and it makes sense in my head, so let's see if I can get this out right. Pretty much we decided what kind of life we wanted. Some of the things discussed were kids, our living arrangement, work, our bodies, money, etc.

We then decided to focus on a few areas and make goals that would help us improve. So we made goals - Emotional/Social goals, Healthy-Lifestyle goals, Money goals, and Spiritual goals. I'm really excited for our goals and where they will put us at the beginning of next year. :o)

So.....here they are, our 2014 family goals:

  • workout every morning
  • go dancing once a month
  • have a combined FHE once a month
  • kneeling couple praryer morning and night
  • study the Old Testament as a couple
  • be WorldMark debt free
We have a purpose/ultimate goal/lifestyle that we want due to the result of these six goals this year. I'm so grateful for a partner that wants to succeed and will sit down and talk with me about these kinds of things. It makes me happy.

Happy New Year!

2013 in a nutshell

With the start of a new year I'm enjoying thinking of all that 2014 has to hold for us Ambroses, but first I want to recap 2013. :o)

January - found somewhere to live. moved. threw a 3-year old a fairy birthday party. got sick. traveled in snow. etc....January has ALWAYS been a least-favorite month of the year for me. Amazing that I got through this one. :o)

February - decisions about getting married. Valentine's Day. Planning/executing a wedding. February (already a short month!) went by REALLY fast for me.

March - We got married. Pretty much the highlight of 2013 for me. :o) (and I still want to do a review of vendors. Maybe. Perhaps I'll do that around our one-year anniversary?)

April - We tried to get settled into our new life of being married and having a kid. I remember going through a lot of a emotions at that time even if I didn't blog about it. Needless to say this was an adjustment period.

May - I don't really remember the month of May. The only thing that I remember is planting tomatoes. Exciting life, I know.

June - We celebrated Father's Day, Allan's birthday and just tried to have much fun as possible.

July - Allan left for a month for Army stuffs. I tried to keep busy. Oh, and I left my job that I had had since graduating college.

August - Started a new job! Oh, and Allan came home. :o) That made me happy. OH! And we went to California and got new (to us!) furniture.

September - Moved. It was probably the craziest of moves I have ever done. Don't want a repeat any time soon...

October - We had a busy October. It kind of ran away from me.

November - Hosted Thanksgiving! cooked a turkey! Ate lots of good food!

December - December just rocked. It was a good way to end the year and we loved spending it with Lindy and the rest of Allan's family.

Here's to a great 2013 and an even better 2014! :o)

Christmas Recap

We were busy little bees in the month of December. (although, let's be honest, who ISN'T busy in December? I think the month demands busyness of people. ;) )

And in the words of a favorite movie of mine, "Let me 'splain....No there is too much. Let me sum up..."

Decorating a large Christmas Tree was so much fun to do!
Allan's favorite part was putting on the star. :)
One of Allan's Christmas gifts was tickets to the Broadway performance of "American Idiot" featuring Green Day music.
Traveling home in the snow....it took us hours to get home from Salt Lake
At Allan's Army Reserve Christmas party. Love seeing my man all dressed up!
It was cold.
We made gingerbread houses/castles. :)
We got to spend an evening with this cute little girl. LOVED IT!
It snowed. A lot. I went home from work ealry. :)

Lindy loves ballet - and just had to dress up and practice in the living room!
Adorable-ness right there....

Lindy and Daddy decorating cookies for Santa
We got new pajamas
And loved opening Christmas presents on Christmas morning
We took cousin Abby to the Treehouse Museum
Had a sleepover and listened to Daddy read the BEST stories.
Chilled out and watched Mickey Mouse...
wore each other out to the point of falling asleep on the floor.

I think it's pretty safe to say that we had a most wonderful December and Christmas holiday. :o) Having Lindy around made it that much better and getting to see the magic of Christmas through her eyes is something I'll ALWAYS enjoy. :o)
